Challenges Committee
The National Challenges Committee is responsible for overseeing the rules, conditions, and programmes of all UFBA Challenges. The Committee consists of the entire Technical Panel, a representative of the Board, the UFBA Chief Executive Officer, a representative of the NZFS National Commander, the NZFS National Training Manager, and two nominated NZFS Regional Managers.
Chris Price
ChairpersonAfter serving on the Board from March 2008 through November 2010, Chris has now taken on the office of Vice President of the UFBA. He is currently Station Officer of the Ashburton Volunteer Fire Brigade, and has been a member for almost 30 years, is a Past President of the Canterbury Provincial, and is currently serving as the Chairman of the Challenges Committee. He is married to Jeanette, and has two daughters, Amanda and Janene, and a son Andrew, who is a QFF in the Ashburton Brigade. Chris is the Workshop Manager at Ashburton Implement Services. In his spare time, he plays indoor hockey, rows for the Ashburton Rowing Club Masters, and tours the country with his wife on their motorcycles.
Ewen Heron
Committee MemberEwen was elected to the Technical Panel in 2009. He is Senior Station Officer at Wainuiomata Volunteer Fire Brigade.
Rob Dixon
Committee MemberRob was elected to the Technical Panel at the 2010 Conference in Christchurch. He is a Senior Firefighter at Cromwell Volunteer Fire Brigade.

Paul McGill
Committee MemberPaul is the nominated representative of Mike Hall, NZFS National Commander and CEO. He is the Director of Operations and Training for the New Zealand Fire Service.
Russell Allen
Committee MemberRussell is the newest member of the Technical Panel. He serves in the Auckland Fire Police and was elected to the Panel at the November 2010 Conference in Wellington.
David Guard
Committee MemberDavid is the National Training Manager based in Wellington.
George Verry
Committee MemberGeorge joined the UFBA as Chief Executive Officer in November of 2008, and has worked closely with the Challenges Committee since that time.
