UFBA Profile
The United Fire Brigades' Association of New Zealand Incorporated was founded in 1878. Delegates from nine brigades met in the Library of the Lichfield Street Fire Station in Christchurch with the prime purpose of establishing an organisation to enable discussion on matters of mutual interest and to form a better means of liaison between brigades.
Today we consist of 479 Fire Brigades (Volunteer, Paid, Urban, Rural, Industrial and Defence) which represent approximately 10,000 fire fighters across New Zealand and out of this number 80% are volunteers.
The UFBA is the only national voice for all of our Fire Brigades.
The UFBA is here to serve and promote the needs of their members and represent the fire brigades on the local, national and international scenes.
