The New Zealand Fire Service has around 400 stations and 8,000 firefighters spread throughout the country in the five regions.
The nature of the emergencies we attend are as varied as the people who call for us. Our communities rely on our people being professionally prepared and capable to respond whenever they are called upon.
About 63,000 incidents were attended by the fire service in the past year, but that's only part of the story; firefighters spend time with communites to prevent unwanted fires through delivering education and other community focused work.
The NZFS vision is to work with communities to protect what they value and our mission is to reduce the incidence and consequence of fire and to provide a professional response to other emergencies. Visit them at www.fire.org.nz.
