POSTPONED - 2010 UFBA National Drivers Challenge
The United Fire Brigades’ Association together with the Mid Canterbury Fire Brigades’ Sub Association regret to advise that this year’s National Drivers has been postponed until 2011 due to the current situation in Christchurch.
We are looking at re-booking the event sometime between March and June 2011, and once we have confirmation from the venue we will advise those that registered for the 2010 challenge directly. Notification will also appear on this website and in the UFBA newsletter.
The following information is for all those that are registered for the Drivers Challenge.
Registration Fees (Competitors, Observers and Partners)
Refunds of registration and social function fees will be available – you will need to contact Orbit Travel with your bank account details and a refund will be arranged.
For those that have paid using their credit card, the money will be refunded directly to the card.
Please allow 10 working days after you have advised us of your bank account details for refunds to show in your account. Credit cards will automatically be refunded by Friday 17 September.
Flights
If you have booked your flight through Orbit and are a Competitor or Official, your flight will be suspended until we have a confirmed date for 2011.
If you have booked your flight through Orbit, are a Partner or Observer AND the flight is on Air New Zealand you will have the option to suspend your flight until the new date is set or get a refund in line with the standard terms and conditions of your ticket fare type. Anyone with flights booked on Pacific Blue or Jetstar will potentially lose the flights, depending on the booking class type. Officials and Competitors will still be funded for the 2011 Challenge.
Accommodation
The Copthorne Hotel Commodore have graciously agreed to allow us to cancel all the accommodation at NO CHARGE. Anyone who has pre-paid for accommodation will be refunded through Orbit Travel directly.
Many of you have expressed a desire to assist the affected Brigades in some way. The UFBA is working with the New Zealand Fire Service and the Brigades in the affected area to ascertain what assistance may be required of other fire fighters throughout the country. The UFBA website will be updated to inform you of how you can help.
