2017 Australasian Firefighters Championships

2017 Australasian Firefighters Championships

The United Fire Brigades’ Association of New Zealand (UFBA) is hosting the 2017 Australasian Firefighters Championship in conjunction with the Carterton Volunteer Fire Brigade in Carterton from 17-19 November.

21 teams from around New Zealand and across Australia will compete at this biennial event over two days of intense competition.

The Firefighters Championship provides a highly competitive environment that supports the development and maintenance of operational firefighting skills in a realistic and challenging way. The events are designed to simulate a potential scenario that firefighters may encounter with an emphasis on teamwork and camaraderie.

Teams from New Zealand competing include the host brigade Carterton, Rangiora, Ruakaka, Matamata, Silverdale and Kaitangata.

At the last Firefighters Championship in Echuca, Victoria in October 2015, Silverdale came first in Event 7 and Greymouth second in Event 6.

This event at Carrington Park beside Carterton Fire Station will be a public event attended by over 200 firefighters and many more supporters.

Spectators are welcome free of charge on the Saturday and Sunday during the times in the chart below.
