Waterway Challenge
UFBA Waterway Challenges are hose-running competitions held every two years, with the next regional and national events scheduled for early 2013.
2011 / 2012 Rules Review
The Waterways Rules Panel have reviewed the submissions received and the rules have been endorsed by the UFBA Board. The latest version is available for download below. If you have any comments or questions, please post in the Forum in the first instance.
IMPORTANT: Temporary Rule Adjustment
In light of recent discussions from Waterway Teams around the country, the Technical Panel have decided to put a temporary adjustment in the rules relating to Events 46 and 26. From the Chair of the Technical Panel:
"The Panel has decided to temporarily adjust the penalty time for the B type ejector run in relation to the time for water to reach the eye of the pump, from 15 seconds to 25 seconds for the four person run and from 25 seconds to 35 seconds for the two person, until after the four regional competitions when the times will be reviewed."
This temporary adjustment is effective immediately and will remain in place until the completion of the last regional competition in March 2013.
Event demos now available
Event demo videos on each of the 4-person and 2-person runs are now available - demonstrated by Greymouth and Blenheim brigades, and filmed by Blair Hall. (NOTE: These are not official UFBA videos, but may be useful tools for up-and-coming teams).
2013 Waterway Season
Further details on the Regional and National Waterway Challenges will be posted online as we confirm them. If you have applied online to be an Official for Waterway Challenges, you can expect an email in October asking for your availability for these dates. The Technical Panel will then select Officials after Conference in November.

2011 UFBA Region 3 Waterway Challenge
Hokitika has been confirmed as the venue for the 2011 UFBA Region 3 Waterway Challenge, taking place on 13 February.
2011 UFBA Region 4 Waterway Challenge
Oamaru is the confirmed venue for the 2011 UFBA Region 4 Waterway Challenge, scheduled to take place on 5th February.
2011 Region 1 Waterway Challenge
Turangi has been confirmed as the venue for the 2011 UFBA Region 1 Waterway Challenge, scheduled to take place on 29 January. Additional details on this event and how to register will be posted as they are available.
