Understand how topography, fuel and weather combine to create a unique fire environment
This field day will give participants a basic level of awareness about the effects of the fire environment factors on vegetation fire behaviour.
This will enable you to keep safe and make informed decisions about wildfire control and prescribed burning. The field day will combine a mix of theoretical learning and practical application.
Participants will have the opportunity to do Unit Standard 14564 (Fire Environment). If you wish to do this Unit Standard, you must register and indicate your intention no later than 4 May 2018 in order to provide sufficient time complete pre-course work. The pre-requisite to sit this Unit Standard is 3285 (Working Safely at Vegetation Fires).

- Understanding and knowledge of vegetation fires
- Knowledge of the effects of topography, fuels and weather on vegetation fire behaviour
- Understanding of the combined effects of the fire environment on vegetation fire behaviour
- Knowledge of the Fire Weather Index (FWI) in relation to fire danger

The registration fee for this Field Day is $50 per participant (this includes morning and afternoon teas and lunch and is limited to 34 participants.
The fee for this Field Day must be paid for in advance
