RNZAF Base Ohakea, located 22km West of Palmerston North, is one of the three Air Force bases. It is also New Zealand’s third largest airfield. There are over 1,000 people working at the base, which is used as training base and logistics hub as well as for search and rescue, VIP flight operations and a variety of other functions.
Participants can expect to learn about safety around fixed wing aircrafts and rotary wing aircrafts, safety around military aircrafts involved in accidents and crashes, and safety around live ordnance. Aircraft fires and fire suppression techniques will also be covered.
