South Island Firefighter Combat Challenge
Combat Challenge is back! This year the UFBA will host 3 Challenges - two Island Challenges followed by a National later in the year.
Registration
Registration closed on Tuesday 5 April at 3pm.
Confirmation of Registration:
A summary of registration will be sent to your email address supplied within 15 minutes of registration. If you do not receive one in this time, please contact Orbit Wellington before re-registering as you may have simply entered the incorrect email address.
All competitors attending the Challenge should aim to arrive into Ashburton no later than 07:45hrs Saturday 9 April. Competitors are required to be at the pre-event briefing on Saturday at 08:00hrs. Failure to attend this event will result in disqualification from the competition, no exceptions will be made.
All registration and function costs include GST.
Expense Claims
The UFBA will process expense claims for competitors for 50% of the cost of their travel after this event. Expense claim forms will be issued on the day of the event for submission no later than 20 working days following the event.
Accommodation
Competitors will be responsible for their own accommodation.
Travel
The UFBA will fund up to 50% of the following:
Return mileage from the centre of your town to the centre of Ashburton as calculated on www.wises.co.nz, or the lowest airfare equivalent if you choose to drive when it's cheaper to fly.
OR
the lowest available airfare from your point of departure that arrives in Christchurch after 16:00hrs the day prior to the Challenge, plus return mileage reimbursement from the centre of your town to the airport and economy airport parking where required.
NOTE: Mileage will be paid at a rate consistent NZFS policy on a per kilometre rate for surface travel.
Please note - if you live in the South Island you are funded for the Ashburton Challenge. If you live in the North Island you are funded for the Te Awamutu Challenge. If you wish to attend both you will be accepted if places are available and will be responsible for funding yourself.
Meals
Meals will not be reimbursed following the challenge except if you are an official and you will have received this information from the UFBA directly.
Prize Giving BBQ
Beverages will be served on a user-pays basis
Officials
Officials will be funded as per the confirmation letter received from the United Fire Brigades' Association of New Zealand.
Combat Challenge Programme
The Challenge and Prize Giving function will be held at Ashburton Fire Station, 332 Burnett Street, Ashburton.

9.30am Competitors health and safety briefing
10am Challenge commences
BBQ and Prize Giving will start two hours after the last run.
