Availability and Messaging System

During May 2015, the business requirements for the new Availability and Messaging System (formerly the VACS trial) were completed with input from a reference group and Request For Tender (RFT)evaluation team with representation from ICT and Operations.

Operational representation included Executive Officers, UFBA members,ComCen staff, Volunteer Support Officers, Career firefighters, and Volunteer firefighters.

Incident Ground Communications (IGC)

The Incident Ground Communications (IGC) radio replacement project is underway, representing movement on a significant theme of Vision 2020 feedback.

IGC Working Group

The IGC Working Group has been created and includes representation from UFBA operations, rural, all regions, PFU, ICT, and USAR.

The IGC Working Group will be responsible for developing practical scenarios to evaluate new IGC equipment, a National IGC radio equipment allocation policy, a training programme and reviewing existing channel plans to support implementation of the new IGC radios.
