NZFS Health & Safety Updates

The new Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 came into effect on 4 April 2016.

The Fire Service is already meeting most of the new obligations and we’re well aware of health and safety - so, although there are a few changes to be aware of, day-to-day work and focus will remain the same for most personnel.

These NZFS Updates address some common queries and explain different aspects of regulation e.g. the investigative process between the Fire Service and WorkSafe NZ if there is an accident or incident in the workplace.

Safety Summit 2015: Improving safety for firefighters

The UFBA was a co-host of the New Zealand Fire Service Safety Summit held in Wellington in August 2015, along with the New Zealand Professional Firefighters Union (NZPFU).

The aim of the Summit was to learn and share knowledge to improve safety for our firefighters.

The UFBA strongly endorsed this initiative and welcomed the opportunity to participate.
