In the scorching hot conditions of this year’s summer, hosts CFO Rod Triplow and his Havelock North Volunteer Fire Brigade team put on a great track for the UFBA North Island Waterway Challenge held in Havelock North on 27 January.

Eight 4-person teams and eight 2-person teams (including a visiting team from Mossburn in Southland) competed in this challenge which tests speed and accuracy of pump operation and hose skills.

Congratulations to the winning teams!

Ruakaka took out the 2-person challenge, with home brigade Havelock North following and then Whitianga.

Carterton were the 4-person winners chased by Matamata and Havelock North.

Our thanks to all the competitors for their commitment to the extensive training needed to enhance their skills in the competitive environment UFBA Challenges provide and the volunteer officials for their dedicated work.
