Set out below are notes on some current issues under consideration by United Fire Brigades’ Association of New Zealand.
Advocacy on behalf of our members and other forms of membership support is a fundamental role of our organisation. We invite member brigades and brigade personnel to advise us of areas where UFB A can assist in issues of significance affecting our well-being and our ability to serve our communities. If you have an issue you would like to dicuss, contact the CEO.
The New Zealand Fire Service has released a paper detailing the proposal for a revised regional model. UFBA brigades and other UFBA member organisations and/or any person otherwise associated with the UFBA are invited to submit comment to this Office no later than 7 February 2011 in order for the UFBA to lodge a submission with NZFS if appropriate.
The UFBA is currently supporting ten Rural Fire Forces (RFF) members who have been concerned about the implications of the Super City concept on the way in which they wish to provide services to their communities.
The NZFS has in place a staged process for the upgrading of NZFS fire stations – usually by either the erection of a new building or the renovation of an existing station.
For some time we have been in discussions with NZFS concerning the introduction of the above policy.
Earlier this year the NZ Law Commission reported to Parliament on a review it had completed of the current legislation.
