Andrzej attended a 2-day Operational Support training course in Rotorua at the National Training Centre where you are put through your paces with all sorts of exercises and events to test your knowledge both in theory and practical.
After a very busy and tiring weekend Andrzej passed with flying colours - Congratulations!
Members of HWOSU gathered last night for the 62nd AGM for our unit - and the 1st AGM under Fire and Emergency New Zealand.
As well as going through the adgenda we also voted in 2 recruits as full members as they have completed their compulsory elements - congratulations to Michaela Jull and Rebecca Brieton and welcome aboard!
In the early afternoon HWOSU were dispatched to an MVA on Rimutaka hill where we assisted with traffic control and scene protection in conjunction with the Police.
In the early evening HWOSU were dispatched to a "persons reported" 2nd alarm house fire in Stokes Valley
We assisted with crowd and traffic control to protect the scene
Thankfully everyone got out of the house safely

What an outstanding UFBA National Firefighter Combat Challenge on the Wellington waterfront on Friday and Saturday! Wellington definitely put on some great weather for us too! We got some personal best for times and QFF Dobson & RFF Dobson are now 2nd fastest in New Zealand for the Women's Tandem Team! Great results and great fun all round!
A huge Thankyou to Petone Rotary for their support in purchasing our unit members milwaukee gloves to trail over the next 6 months. With in the trial the gloves will be put to the test with all our equipment during drill nights and fire calls and if successful hopefully these gloves will be rolled out to other areas.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ), which is to be established on 1 July, 2017.
Given the changes in the sector being planned from 1 July, the Board considers it extremely important
that our core
