On Saturday 16th June some our female members attended an Area 15 WFENZ get together meeting held at Greytown station in the Wairarapa. These are held within each area throughout the country for women to offer support, promote and facilitate the participation and success of women in Fire and Emergency roles within New Zealand.

On a very wet and windy evening HWOSU were paged to an incident where a car had crashed into a power pole causing over 500 homes to lose power for most of the night

This is a fantastic meet and greet for newer members of each unit and to have the chance to go through each appliance to see what sort of equipment is stowed.

2018 UFBA North Island Waterway Challenge
On Tuesday 5th December, some of our crew took both of our appliances over the hill to visit Martinborough Fire station in the Wairarapa so they could see what gear we carry and how we maybe able to assist them at their calls in the future but upon arrival they were busy at a big scrub fire so our unit
HWOSU had a very busy weekend - with 2 fire calls and assisting at the Upper Hutt Santa Parade
Saturday 2nd December - Scrub fire in Upper Hutt, members were tasked with road closure and crowd control
Sunday 3rd December - as members were prepping our vehicles to head to the Santa Parade we were called to a 2nd alarm house
On a beautiful Sunday our unit members attended the White Ribbon Appeal day along side Rimutaka and Trentham crews, assisting wiht promoting fire safety with using the inflatable education house, fire blocks and the importance of smoke alarms.
