Minister announces new fire services structure

The Minister announced today at the UFBA Conference in Wellington that the government has agreed to bring urban and rural fire services together into one unified fire services organisation.

The new organisation will have regional committees that will ensure the particular interests of the regions are taken into account. Funding decisions are still to be made.

The UFBA welcomes the opportunity to continue with consultation on behalf of our members for legislation fit for purpose for the 21st century and during the transition to a new fire services structure.
