The UFBA continues to work closely together with FRFANZ to represent the interests of both urban and rural volunteer firefighters during the transition to FENZ. One of our key objectives is to strengthen leadership skills in rural fire forces.
To help meet this objective, we are running a special Leadership & Governance Workshop for rural firefighters to provide this valued experience as we all meet the challenges of the transition to the new FENZ environment. This 2.5 day course will take place from Thursday 22 June to Saturday 24 June in Wellington.
Click here for more details about this special Leadership & Governance workshop. The UFBA manages and covers the cost of travel arrangements, accommodation and meals for participants selected for this workshop.
Rural firefighters will strengthen their leadership skills at this workshop by taking part in a wide range of interactive sessions including:
- Leading a team
- Setting expectations for the behaviour of team members
- Giving feedback to team members about their behaviour.
"Despite attending many leadership courses over the years, I felt this was the best one I had ever attended. This course would be very beneficial for Rural Fire Force Controllers / Leaders to assist them with their roles both in their fire forces and in their day to day lives in the community.” Gordon Foster, Deputy Principal Rural Fire Officer, Hastings
We are extending our invitation to this workshop not only to UFBA member rural fire forces, but also to members of FRFANZ and to rural volunteers who are not members of either organisation.
I would appreciate you sharing this message with your rural colleagues. Spaces on this special workshop are limited - if they are keen to take up this opportunity, we invite them to complete our short online application here
We very much appreciate our members' commitment to building strong sustainable brigades and rural fire forces.
