Events Manager rolls on to new challenges

Events Manager rolls on to new challenges
25th June 2012

After two and a half years and 15 successful challenges and conferences, Events Manager Sarah Taylor is leaving the UFBA to take on a new role.

In her time with us, she has worked closely with the Technical Panel, Challenges Committee, local organising committees and volunteers, other UFBA office staff, and many other stakeholders to deliver exceptional events.

Her hard work and perseverance has taken the UFBA events programme to new heights, and her passion for improving processes and logistics has translated to improved events and experiences for participants.

“She’s been extremely effective in the role, and will certainly be missed,” says Chris Price, UFBA President and former Challenges Committee Chair.

“She’s been very proactive in raising the profile of challenges,” says Price. “The programme has come leaps and bounds over the past few years.  The events have become so professional, and the information that goes out to participants is more detailed and timely.”

One improvement she was particularly excited about was the acquisition of Billy the Bus - the newest member of the Events Team.  Previously an incident command vehicle, the Fire Service donated it to be converted into an an events vehicle It is now being used exclusively for UFBA Challenges, and has added to the efficiency of the Events Team as they travel to various events.

Sarah’s last day with the UFBA will be 20 July, and Ceara Owen-Perry will take over as Event Manager starting 23 July.

Ceara has a strong background in hospitality and events, having been in the industry for over 15 years.  Most recently Ceara has been the Event Advisor at Deloitte and prior to this she was the Business Development & Event Manager for Auaha Events in Wellington.  Ceara is looking forward to meeting many of you over the next few months and will be on the ground at the upcoming National Drivers Challenge in Feilding.
