The Gambling (Harm Reduction) Amendment Bill or “The Flavell Bill” promoted by Minister Te Ururoa Flavell and the Maori Party is currently under consideration. Click here to view the bill.
The UFBA and its member associations and brigades are the recipients of funds from gaming trusts throughout New Zealand, and we are aware that gaming trusts have expressed opposition to the bill. Because we recognise that our members may have different views on gambling generally, the UFBA Board and Management do not offer a strong recommendation, but we do advise members that we do not support the bill in its current form.
