Leadership key to sustainability, says UFBA CEO
25th June 2012In July of last year, the UFBA launched the first of its series of Leadership and Governance workshops, followed by a second workshop in April. The programme has been very successful so far, with 30 leaders and up-and-coming leaders already taking part.
“We’ve developed these workshops because we believe leadership is a significant element in sustainability,” says George Verry, UFBA Chief Executive Officer. “Leadership and governance skills are vitally important on many levels – from brigades and fire forces to provincial associations, the Technical Panel, the UFBA Board, and other committees.”
The next workshop is scheduled to take place 16 to 18 August in Wellington. The workshops are not fire and rescue service oriented, but will provide skills that are valuable not only when undertaking brigade duties, but also at home and in your work or business. As in previous workshops, the sessions will be led by Jane Huria of HSR Governance and Damian D’Cruz of Mindspring – both of whom have received very positive feedback from previous participants.
