NZFBI Field Day: Introduction to the Rural Fire Environment

NZFBI Field Day: Introduction to the Rural Fire Environment

Understand how topography, fuel and weather combine to create a unique fire environment

This field day will give participants a basic level of awareness about the effects of the fire environment factors on vegetation fire behaviour.

This will enable you to keep safe and make informed decisions about wildfire control and prescribed burning. The field day will combine a mix of theoretical learning and practical application.

Participants will have the opportunity to do Unit Standard 14564 (Fire Environment). If you wish to do this Unit Standard, you must register and indicate your intention no later than 4 May 2018 in order to provide sufficient time complete pre-course work. The pre-requisite to sit this Unit Standard is 3285 (Working Safely at Vegetation Fires).
