After meeting with Fire and Emergency New Zealand this afternoon, we are aware of letters being received and/or formal meetings going ahead with those who are unvaccinated or have not provided Fire and Emergency with their vaccination status. Members are reminded that you should have been advised by FENZ managers of your right to have a support person present.

The UFBA encourages members to contact us directly, as your Association, to provide you with support or representation during any such meeting. If this affects you, please email support@ufba.org.nz or phone 0508 832 269.

To confirm, if you are a member of a volunteer fire brigade, then you as an individual are entitled to access our advocacy and support services, free of charge. You can check your membership by emailing membershipservices@ufba.org.nz

If you are unvaccinated by the 29th of November 2021, you will no longer be able to perform any role covered by the Health Order (operational duties).

The UFBA has raised with Fire and Emergency that there are severe gaps in this incomplete process, which need to be considered. We advise members to hold off making any immediate decisions until these matters have been addressed.
