Let’s shine a light on helmet torches

Volunteers have been asking for helmet torches for years and one brigade has taken the positive step of trialling and recommending a torch. Takaka Volunteer Fire Brigade approached the UFBA’s Membership Advisory Panel (MAP) to gain their support to consult with members on issuing a standard helmet torch to Fire and Emergency NZ operational personnel and asking members for their views on a suitable torch.

The UFBA is currently surveying members who have registered for our communications. So far, the results are clear, members want a torch and many would be happy with the one recommended by Takaka VFB. Others have provided their own recommendations.

When the survey closes, the UFBA will formally send members’ recommendations to Fire and Emergency. We will publish the survey outcomes and Fire and Emergency’s response in upcoming publications.

If you’d like to be notified of future consultation register for the UFBA’s communications.

Thanks for the update on this ..most of us fight fires with two hands and in the event that we are working at night without a torch makes no sense at all when we can have one on our helmet, the sooner the better
thanks Chris
