UFBA AGM going online and Conference 2020 cancelled

We’re taking our AGM online

Kia Ora!

This year will see the first ever online UFBA AGM! In the face of challenges under Covid-19 we’re planning to make this our most streamlined, modern AGM ever. We are looking to ensure every member brigade across New Zealand can access and play your part in the proceedings – from the comfort of your home or station.

Conference cancelled for 2020
This does mean we’ve had to make the difficult, but sensible, decision to not hold our popular physical Conference this year. With many uncertainties ahead around domestic and non-essential travel there is a risk of losing thousands of dollars in non-refundable deposits for accommodation, travel, catering and venue hire for hundreds of attendees. We’re as disappointed as you are as it’s a great time for us all to get together, and particularly following the growing success over recent years.

So what will the new format be?
We’ve sought advice and will be working our way through logistics – including resources to help all delegates get online and ensuring a robust and secure platform. We’ll still need you – our Members – to participate and play a part in our quorum. We’ll also look to:

We’ll be bringing you more information but in the meantime please have a discussion with your brigade as to who might represent your brigade as an ‘online delegate’ for the AGM later in the year. These are strange times indeed but as we saw with last year’s historical adoption of a modernised Constitution, we can do this. We can adapt.

nga mihi
