Influential leadership is the key to activating brigades and getting the best out of your team.

The theme of this year’s UFBA Conference aims to activate emerging leaders and we are recommending existing leaders identify emerging leaders who can enhance the leadership within their brigades.

In response to membership feedback over the years, it’s clear that leadership and succession is important to you all, and we are giving you the opportunity to develop an emerging leader within your brigade.

Some of you have also told us about constraints on your time and commitment. As an existing leader, you often face the most challenging tasks alone. The UFBA Conference Hui will support you to trust and share the load by further developing your emerging leader’s skills.

It’s time to get these people up and activate their leadership within your brigade! You’ve built a strong foundation, now let’s nurture the next generation coming through, so they can help shoulder the responsibility.

Our half-day AGM will remain consistent, and in-person as you have requested, covering constitutional requirements. You may want to consider putting forward your emerging leader, who you have chosen for the conference one and a half days, as your AGM delegate too. Your brigade’s voice is essential to help shape your Association.

In a few weeks, the registration packs will be sent out to all brigades and on 3 July, and we will be opening registrations online.

We will provide more information about the different registration types and funding closer to then, but in the meantime, we would like all members to think about two things:

  1. Are you an existing leader? If so, think about who you would like to activate and grow into a leader to support you.
  2. Are you an emerging leader? We want you! Speak to your brigade leader and have a conversation about your future development.
