Australasian Police & Emergency Services Games postponed

Issue date:
Topic:

Due to the uncertainty created by the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2022 Australasian Police and  Emergency Services (AP&ES) Games have been postponed from March 2022 until March 2023.

The Governance/Advisory Board of the Games said, “We are very disappointed we won’t be able to host competitors, families, friends and supporters in New Zealand in 2022, but also optimistic that taking this early decision will provide greater security and surety of your ability to travel, compete and enjoy our wonderful hospitality and adventure opportunities in 2023.

“We remain fully committed to putting on an event you will enjoy and remember. The new dates are 3-10 March 2023, and Rotorua remains as the venue. We are taking the view that we will have 12 more months to put on a great show for you all and look forward to hosting you in Rotorua, New Zealand, in March 3-10, 2023.”

Here are some Q&As for our people who may have already registered, or were planning to register, for the Games in 2022:

You’ve already entered?

1200 people had already registered for the Games and the organisers will carry over these entries to March 2023. It is the intention of the AP&ES Games to roll over the programme as it stands. If the organisers need to make adjustments, they will contact all affected entrants to work through the options.

You entered in September, when entry fees changed from Super Early to Early Bird?

Good news. The AP&ES Games can donate, on your behalf, 10% of your entry fee (the difference you paid compared with those who entered during the Super Early window) to the charity partner, the Graeme Dingle Foundation(external link), or refund you. You don’t need to do anything at this stage. The Games organisers will contact you over the next two weeks and you can let them know what you would prefer.

You have other plans for March 2023?

Also good news. You have plenty of time to reschedule and get to Rotorua for the AP&ES Games in March 2023. If that’s not possible, email info@apes2022.co.nz and the organisers will arrange a full refund.

You haven’t entered yet?

No problem.  The AP&ES Games is going to reinstate its Super Early discount (20% off), which will be activated on the website soon, along with an extended window. Follow the “REGISTER HERE” button on the Registration page(external link).
