ACC legislation starting to change

Issue date:
Topic:

It’s a good start! The requirement to prove that a disease or infection is not work related will soon be back on ACC.

Under law changes to be introduced to Parliament later this year, ACC’s assessment of gradual process claims will focus on employment tasks and environments – that is, the cause of any illness, as distinct from specific occupations.

ACC Minister Carmel Sepuloni, says this will provide greater transparency on how claimants’ exposures are considered, and better access to ACC for claimants.

But, there’s a lot more to do, to ensure that volunteers have fairer and more equitable treatment under ACC Law.

Check your FENZ email for your link to complete the UFBA Volunteer Fairness and Equity Campaign survey calling for changes to ACC and other legislation, so volunteers also have equitable access and cover.

If you haven’t received the email, send your details to connect@ufba.org.nz to ensure your voice is heard by lawmakers.
