The UFBA, in partnership with Grant Thornton, can assist your brigade to enjoy the benefits of Xero.

We offer a free subscription service including telephone support and online training. We'll set everything up to make your transition to online so much easier -  you just need to have online banking in place first.

Xero is an accounting software widely used across New Zealand, by businesses of all sizes. The advantages of using Xero are:

  • Store all your finances in the cloud - no more lost bits of paper!
  • Easily generate and file reports to both FENZ and Charities Services
  • Quickly provide detailed finance updates at brigade meetings

This is an essential tool for all brigades to have - spend less time doing admin work!

  • familiar with Xero and wish to refresh their knowledge
  • seeking to learn how to use Xero more efficiently
  • interested in learning end-of-year reporting tasks and checks to help ensure reports are correct.

Accounting 101

This training has been designed to provide a beginner-level introduction to accounting, and gives fantastic insights that will help you meet your brigade’s accounting obligations.

The training will also provide useful tips, tricks & tools to put your brigade into a stronger financial position.

Topics Covered:

  • Accounting overview - why do we need / use accounting?
  • Accounting basics - explains how accounting works
  • Applying accounting - explains how to produce and read your brigade’s financial reports using accounting
  • Budgeting - useful for planning events, and for your upcoming brigade AGM
