Dashboard Live Update
Following concerns raised by members about the Dashboard Live application, the UFBA has raised these directly with Jim Stuart-Black, Acting Deputy Chief Executive responsible for IT at Fire and Emergency New Zealand.
Jim has confirmed that the email data feed to Dashboard Live has been stopped, as the application was not a Fire and Emergency sanctioned system.
Fire and Emergency is required to report the transfer of its data to this external platform to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
An investigation will also be undertaken to establish:
- The history and operation of the Dashboard Live platform.
- The loss of control over Fire and Emergency data.
- Any associated data and privacy risks.
- The options available moving forward.
Jim has advised that once this investigation has progressed, he will provide a further update on the findings and proposed next steps. This will include considering whether a similar system could be developed and operated within the Fire and Emergency environment.
The UFBA thanks members for bringing these concerns to our attention. We recognise the importance of protecting member information and ensuring that systems handling Fire and Emergency data are appropriately managed.
We will continue to engage directly with Fire and Emergency, seek clarity on the outcomes of the investigation and ensure members are kept informed as further information becomes available.
