UFBA Service Honours - increase in gold prices
The UFBA medals and honours supplier, Badges and Medals, has advised that prices will increase from 23 February 2026 due to the rising cost of gold, which accounts for approximately 60% of their manufacturing costs. As a result, price increases across affected items will range from 4% to 66%.
These increases mainly impact:
- 50-Year Service Medal
- 25-Year Gold Star
- 5-Year Service Medal
- Gold bars
To support brigades and members, we continue to offer a gold-plated alternative for both the 50-Year Service Medal and 25-Year Gold Star. This option still maintains a high-quality finish and appearance, while being cost-effective.
UFBA Management will continue to monitor gold prices and review medal pricing should opportunities arise to reduce costs in the future.
We understand the impact this has on our member brigades and we are giving you as much notice as we can to help. We encourage brigades to take advantage of the current 2025 pricing. To do this, brigades will need to:
- submit service honours orders by Sunday, 1 March 2026, and
- ensure the honours due date is before 31 July 2026.
