Volunteer Engagement Model Consultation - NOW OPEN
Consultation on the Volunteer Engagement Model is now open until 30 June 2026.
These documents are drafts, nothing is final. We strongly encourage all members, regardless of rank, role or length of service, to share your thoughts. Your feedback now will help ensure that the final documents are clear, practical, and sustainable for years to come.
The three proposed documents are:
- Individual and Fire and Emergency Agreement - relates to your engagement as a volunteer with Fire and Emergency and outlines shared commitments, responsibilities and expectations.
- Brigade & Fire and Emergency Agreement - outlines how the Brigade and Fire and Emergency work together to serve your community. It defines the roles, responsibilities and expectations in a way that reflects a shared commitment to transparency, mutual respect, and a common purpose.
- Schedule 1: Brigade Rules - a template that sets out the rules between brigades and their members and is fully customisable to reflect local circumstances while maintaining consistency across the country.
There are several ways you can share your feedback, including online drop-in sessions, a collaborative consultation website, a short survey, sending an email to the VEM team, or attend an in-person session near you.
You can find the three proposed documents, feedback pathways, FAQs, and brigade leader talking points to support any conversations you might have on the FENZ portal - Volunteer Engagement Model Consultation | The Portal
